Tacos El Gordo. Now, I was turned onto this place by a local, and what a great choice. As soon as they told me the original spot is in Tijuana, I got excited.
No frills here; just a straightforward menu that will make you come back for more. Tacos, with everything from Cabeza, to Buche, to Lengua. Other favorites include Mulas, Tostadas, Suadero, Sopes and Quesadillas.

I had three tacos, two pork, one beef, and they are truly some of the best tacos I’ve ever had. Another nice touch is that you can see into the kitchen to watch all the magic as it happens. The staff made eye contact, smiled, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. I’m happy I have another reason to visit San Diego.
