As a Black man, my Art challenges the American delusion that systemic injustices are an acceptable cost of freedom. Yet, my work simultaneously celebrates the profound human capacity for joy, affirming that the right to happiness is an essential act of freedom even amidst struggle.



Hubert Neal Jr. is a contemporary fine artist whose vibrant work delves into the complex realities of the Black experience in America, while powerfully celebrating the enduring human capacity for joy. Originally from Chicago with family roots in Belize, Hubert's artistic journey began at just nine years old, leading him to the esteemed Chicago Academy for the Arts and later Cornell University. His diverse expertise spans drawing, painting, illustration, writing, graphic design, and photography, all serving his passion for confronting systemic injustices and affirming the essential right to happiness, even in the face of struggle.
