Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Portland

I love the Pacific Northwest and I look forward to any reason to come back. This trip I’m in Portland, Oregon and I stayed at the Doubletree Hilton Portland for the third time.

This Doubletree is a great example of the type of hotel I love. It’s massive, as it’s a location for conventions so it’s properly staffed and they are used to a high volume. I love being in the middle of everything, so being next to Downtown is a plus. It has a proper restaurant and separate bar, which is standard for Doubletree. I’m a breakfast guy, so I judge a lot about a hotel by how they handle breakfast. I like when a hotel’s breakfast gives you the option of buffet or ordering from the menu, and this location had that. This trip I ordered from the menu and I loved how the cook came out to confirm my order. I forgot his name, but he couldn’t have been nicer.

One thing I’ve noticed over the past year is how Hilton properties will send me text messages asking me about my stay. I love this. I think surveys are great, but it’s a turn off when they want you to go to a website or click a link to go here and there. But, by asking me via text, I am more inclined to respond. I’m all about efficiency. Anyway, Marisa was who checked on me throughout my stay.

Lastly, my ideal room is a room with a balcony, and these balcony rooms are perfect. I love balconies because I love fresh air, and American hotel windows rarely open, and when they do, it’s only a few inches, so I appreciate this greatly.
