Food | Slapfish | Lehi, Utah

Now, how am I just finding out about Slapfish?! I was disappointed that the weather did not cooperate preventing me from getting awe inspiring mountain photos, but, food can make up for a lot ;)
I love seafood, so I had to give this place a try. The decor is that of the outside of a Marina where you catch and clean fish. A nice touch since this was something I did with my father.

I especially love lobster, so I chose the lobster taquitos and the lobster roll, the second place I’ve been to where they serve the lobster roll WARM! My favorite way to eat them.

If you find yourself in Lehi, make this your first stop ;)

Food | The Chimes | Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge is a place where I always get excited to visit because I know I will eat well. So, I was excited when people suggested The Chimes as a place to go. It was lunch time, and I love a place that offers a broad range of choices. In their About Us section, The Chimes says, ‘The Chimes Restaurant & Tap Room has been a Baton Rouge and LSU tradition serving fine patrons for over 25 years.’ With the LSU reference, I am sure this means it is a popular spot for the college crowd, so weekends must be crazy!

On this occasion, I had the Blackened Salmon with fries, pared with a Yuenling Lager. Delicious meal. I love fish any way you want to serve it, but blackened is always a nice touch. It was also filling, and me being a big guy, that’s always a great thing.

Next time you’re on Baton Rouge, make sure The Chimes is one of your stops. They have three locations:

Shout out to the great people at Caribbean Joes. They are an ‘Island inspired deli and coffee shop serving an array of breakfast and lunch items including specialty coffees.’ I knew what was going to try; the Jerk Chicken Sandwich with Cajun Fries. Delicious!

Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant

My love for Ethiopian food goes back to 1995 when I was in college. We took the bus down to Brooklyn from upstate New York, which was a four hour ride. The first thing I had was Doro Wat, stewed chicken and hard boiled eggs on Injera; the redness of the stew from the spice Berbere, but I also dipped my food in Mitmita. Fast forward to present day, and I travel a lot. Every city I go to, I look for an Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant and have a favorite in just about every city I go. This time I’m in Houston, Texas; it’s late, I’m tired, and LUCY, the Ethiopian restaurant I usually go to is far enough away that I don’t want to leave the hotel, so I open up the seamless app. I can’t believe it when I see Blue Nile Ethiopian restaurant as one of the delivery options. I ordered my favorite dish, Tibs Fit Fit, cubes of beef sautéed with onions, mixed with pieces of Injera, and then laid on top of Injera. I’m not religious, but this is heaven.

Shout out to Blue Nile

an artist and his travels | MELD

I love food. I call it edible Art. And I love finding new restaurants, cafe's, and bars. A new addition to Bentonville, Arkansas, and just steps away from the Walmart Home Office is Meld. For the 9 - 5iver and business traveler, it is an ideal place to grab lunch, as the service is quick, and Julie, the manager is attentive to your needs.

Meld offers fresh made salads, pizzas, tacos, burgers, and along with grab and go items. They also feature local roasted coffee.

So far, my favorite is 'The Catch'; a lightly blackened fish, provolone, lettuce, tomato folded sandwich. But I can also brag about the chicken and fish tacos, brocolli/cheddar soup, and their lovely cole slaw.
